Travel Award Information
Trravel awards of up to $1,500 will provide for major travel costs, including economy airfare, hotel rooms, and conference registration. For those driving, a standard per mile coverage and hotel parking are allowable costs. Please see below for important information regarding travel awards.
Travel awards will be distributed through Columbia University. Please do not book your own travel, hotel rooms or pay for conference registration if you are applying for a travel award, as we will not be able to reimburse you should you be selected for an award. These expenses must be booked through the Columbia University team and comply with their policies.
If you are awarded a Travel Award, the Columbia team will reach out to you directly via email to make these bookings. Travel awards will not cover flight upgrades or services, hotel incidentals (room service, tips), ground transportation, meals, or other expenses.
Applications are due August 1, 2025.
Eligibility to apply for Travel Awards
The presenting author on an oral, poster, symposium or workshop submitted and accepted to the conference.
A person who identifies in one of the following :
Student: A person who is currently enrolled full or part time in either a baccalaureate or graduate program of education or training at an accredited institution of higher education.
Trainee: A trainee is an individual who is undergoing training at an accredited institution of higher education (i.e., Post Doctoral Fellow, medical resident, or other type of fellowship)
To apply, you will be required to submit:
A statement of no more than 500 words briefly describing the work that you plan to present at the conference, specific ways in which attending the conference will support your research efforts and professional goals in firearm violence and injury prevention, and need for the travel award.
